The drive from Bangalore to Mysore is always a treat, with well-maintained four-lane roads making the journey smooth and enjoyable. We hit the road at 9 AM and arrived at our destination around noon. 🌞
Upon arrival, we were initially shown to a ground-floor room next to the reception. But with the balcony opening directly in front of the room, we didn’t find it appealing. 😕 The staff graciously obliged our request to change rooms, and we were soon settled into a lovely first-floor room. 🛏️🙌
🏨 Royal Orchid – A Closer Look 🏨 Apart from the elegant rooms, the Royal Orchid boasted a range of amenities to make our stay even more enjoyable. The hotel featured a well-maintained garden area, perfect for a leisurely stroll or a quiet read. The fitness center, though compact, was equipped with modern machines to help us stay active during our getaway. For guests looking to unwind, the hotel’s spa offered a range of rejuvenating treatments and massages. 💆♂️🌸
🍽️ The Restaurant: A Culinary Journey 🍽️ The Royal Orchid’s restaurant, though lacking in ambiance, served up a variety of delectable dishes. The menu included an array of both local and international cuisines, catering to diverse taste buds. We particularly enjoyed the Mysore Masala Dosa and the rich, flavorful Bisi Bele Bath, which introduced us to the authentic flavors of Karnataka. The friendly and attentive staff made our dining experience pleasant and enjoyable. 🍛😋
🌳 Brindavan Gardens: A Horticultural Marvel 🌳 Brindavan Gardens, located adjacent to the hotel, is a sprawling, lush garden known for its exquisite landscaping and vibrant flowerbeds. The garden is divided into multiple terraces, with fountains, pergolas, and gazebos adorning the grounds. Walking through the symmetrical, well-manicured pathways, we marveled at the diverse collection of plants and flowers. The garden also featured a charming children’s play area and a boating facility, making it an ideal destination for families. 🚣♀️🌷
🌊 KRS Dam: A Mighty Architectural Wonder 🌊 Just a stone’s throw away from the Brindavan Gardens, the Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) Dam is an impressive engineering marvel built across the Cauvery River. Constructed in 1932, the dam continues to play a vital role in providing water for irrigation and drinking purposes in the region. The dam offers a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape, and the gushing water makes for a spectacular sight. A visit to the KRS Dam not only allowed us to appreciate its architectural grandeur but also understand its significance in the region’s water management. 🏞️💧
The Positives: 🌟 a. Our bed was adorned with a charming canopy, adding a touch of romance. 😍 b. The view from the balcony was breathtaking, especially when the garden lit up at night. 🌳🌃
The Negatives: 😔 a. The bathtub was disappointingly small for comfort. 🛁 b. Bathroom tiles seemed to have been laid improperly, causing water to accumulate after use. 💧 c. A few planks of wood beneath the dresser could have been removed for a tidier look. 🪑 d. The on-site restaurant left something to be desired in terms of ambiance. 🍽️
But let’s not forget the highlight of our stay: the enchanting evening walk in Brindavan Gardens! 🌼🚶♂️ Being inside the garden, the hotel provided easy access to the lush surroundings. We enjoyed the musical fountains and the serene atmosphere, despite it being a common sight these days. 🎶⛲
The next morning, we tried our hand at mini-golf ⛳ and had a blast, but we didn’t bother with the swimming pool, which was more like a tub than a pool. 🏊♂️
With a host of activities and attractions within and around the Royal Orchid, our stay in Mysore Brindavan Gardens was nothing short of magical. The beautiful hotel, the captivating Brindavan Gardens, and the majestic KRS Dam together created a memorable and rejuvenating retreat. 🌟🌈
Our check-out was smooth, and we hit the road back to Bangalore feeling relaxed and refreshed. 🚗
