There is something very special about Kerala, be it the pristine beaches, the tropics forests in Western ghats or the hustle and bustle of the busy cities, one would always find something unique in Kerala. No wonder, it is called as βGodβs own Countryβ.
I visited Kumarakom Lake resort this summer along with my wife and must admit that we both had one of the best holidays. From the moment we landed in Cochin airport till the time we left Kumarakom, we were treated with such unmatched hospitality that we both made it a point that we would visit this place again.
We had booked our flight tickets to Cochin from Bangalore and as planned were waiting for our Cab to transfer us to Kumarakom. We had booked an AC Indica for the journey, but to our surprise was greeted by a brand new Innova. It’s always a good feeling to start the stay on a positive note. The journey from Cochin to Kumarakom took around 2-2.5 hrs. The drive was pleasant and relaxing.
We reached Kumarakom lake resort at around 2PM and were given a traditional welcome. We were greeted by a huge coconut drink which was very refreshing after the drive. I had booked a Heritage village with a private pool. The room was ready and checkin was a breeze. The location of the villa was just perfect. It overlooks the Vembanad Lake and me and my wife enjoyed sitting out and enjoying the uninterrupted view of the lake from our villa.

After 3 nights, we shifted to the house boat. The houseboat experience was one of the kind and cannot be described in words. It was an all together new experience. The houseboat took us through the back waters of Allepey and exposed us to an all together new world. We were taken aback by the serenity and peace. The house boat left in the afternoon and would return back to the resort the next day morning. One has the choice to halt overnight in the backwaters of Allepey or return in the evening to the resort. Since we had to leave next day every morning to Kovalam, we requested the captain of the houseboat to return back to the resort at around 630 in the evening.
We really missed the place and wished we could have stayed for longer at this resort. Looking forward to visit this place again and relive the memories
