The Underwater world located in the Sentosa Island is an oceanarium which was opened to public in the year 1991. The Oceanarium has more than 2,500 marine animals of 250 species from all around the world. Most of the oceanarium is underground.

We visited ā€œThe Merlion parkā€ (for more details read my blog) , the Thian Hock Keng TempleĀ ( for more details read my blog)Ā andĀ National Orchid GardenĀ ( for more details read my blog)Ā during the morning of Day -2 of our Singapore trip. Post lunch we tookĀ the ā€œMount Faber ā€“ Sentosa Cable car rideā€Ā (for more details read my blog) Ā to reach Sentosa Island.

There are various attractions in Sentosa Island and we chose to visit the “Underwater World” first.

Admission Fees – The tickets to the underwater world provide admission to the Dolphin Lagoon located on the Palawan Beach.

Adult:Ā $29.90
Child 3-12 years old:Ā $20.60
Child below 3 years old: Free

Operation hours: Open daily from 10.00am – 7.00pmĀ Ā (Last admission at 6.30pm)

We reached theĀ “Underwater World” at around 3:30 PM. Our plan was to visit the “Dolphin Lagoon” first and then explore the entire underwater world – In order to accommodate the show timings. Ā The show timings every day are: 11:00 AM, 2 PM, 4 PM and 5:45 PM.Ā Do not miss the opportunity to see these lovely animals perform to their tricks and an opportunity to get clicked with them.Ā The 2 PM show on Wednesday provides an exclusiveĀ pink dolphins behind-the-scene enrichment play session with our trainers.Ā

Note: If you are planning to attend the 2:00 PM or 4:00 PM show, ensure that you reach the place at-least 30 minutes before the show. The advantage of reaching a bit early is that you will get to find a good seating spot – close to the performing animals and under the shade.Ā 

The show started on time and it was great to see these amazing mammals perform their stunts. My wife and I enjoyed the show and were able to click few pictures with the wonderful animals after the show. Ā We were done by around 5:00 PM and headed back to explore the “Underwater World”

As soon as you enter the “Underwater World”, you will find a variety of underwater animals on display. From the crabs to the sharks, you will find around 2,500 marine animals of around 250 species on display.

We were greeted by this beautiful crab as soon as we entered the “Underwater world” – The crab was huge in size.

The highlight of the “Underwater world” has to be theĀ 83-metre (272Ā ft) long travelator which would take the tourists throughĀ a submerged transparent tunnel providing an amazing view of theĀ array of marine life including Shaks,Ā coral reefs, stingrays, eels, turtlesĀ Ā and others.Ā The entire place was crowded and it took a while to capture a photo. Photography is a bit tough here as the lighting is dim and the fishes are constantly moving. Unless you have a high end camera capturing a great shot would be tough.Ā

We took around an hour to roam around the “Underwater World” and were done by 6:00 PM. If you are travelling with kids, this place is a must visit as they get to see an array of marine animals in very close proximity. This place is not very unique though, as you will find similarĀ oceanarium in Malaysia (Langkawi) and Dubai.
