We stayed in “Village hotel Albert Court” (formerly know as Albert court village hotel) for 4 nights during our trip to Singapore. The hotel is very close to “Little India” and has 210 rooms. The hotel offers a perfect blend of the old heritage and the modern day flair. Located next to the “Rochor MRT station”, most of the places in Singapore can be easily accessed from the hotel.
For detailed itinerary of my Singapore trip read my following blog

Check-in: We did have minor hiccups during check-in. We reached the hotel at around 9AM and to our disappointment found out that our room was not ready. Not sure where the mistake was – either our travel agents (who had booked our flight tickets and accommodation) did not mention that we would need an early check -in or the hotel just goofed up. Any-ways they offered us a Deluxe room (A bigger room from the one that we had booked) at an additional cost of $40 per night. We took up the courtyard room and checked in

Room: The room was not very big but was laid out elegantly. I guess in Singapore, space comes at a premium and we realized it quickly :). The Gym and jacuzzi were right next to our room and were pretty good. The room was well stacked with most of the stuff that a traveller would need. A double bed, coffee maker, bathing tub, LCD TV, safety lockers, bathing robe etc. The bathroom area was designed pretty well and had all the modern amenities. The mini-bar had limited offerings and the prices were pretty high. Considering that there were so many shops around the hotel, we did not feel the need to use the mini-bar at any point of our stay.

Breakfast: The room came with a complimentary breakfast. Breakfast was pretty good and we used to start the day on a positive note. Do try the desserts and fresh juices.
Location: The hotel is located very close to little India and for an Indian this is an added advantage – one gets all sort of Indian dishes around. Our tour was planned out well in advance and every day we were picked up from our lobby for the tours. Must say that everyone keeps up to the time mentioned – the cab drivers were so conscious of the time that they would give a call even if it was a 5 minute delay.
Food: Apart from the break fast that we used to have we did not have lunch or dinner at the hotel since there were many options available around the hotel. Name a cuisine that you want and it was not be far away. We enjoyed, Thai, traditional Singaporean food and of-course Indian during our stay.
Checkout: check out was a breeze. We had an early morning flight to catch and had no issues in settling our bill.

Overall our experience was really good. The hotel staff were humble and always wore a smile while serving. The stay was excellent and we would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking to have a comfortable stay at Singapore.

You’re right about the prices in Singapore. They are pretty high. But on the plus side at least food at the hawker stands is very affordable. Singapore knows how to make good use of its limited space and your hotel was proof of that. It looks quite comfy.

Very true Linda..we had couple of quick bites at the hawker stands…they were pretty good at reasonable prices…the entire city is very well planned – maximizing space without destroying the natural beauty…
